Q.Write a note on the activities of Sardar Bhagat Singh and his associates after Oct. 1928?



Ans.

In 1928, Lala Lajpat Rai led a demonstration against the Simon commission. He died of injuries which he received by the Lathi blows of the police. This incident was a challenge to Bhagat Singh and his friends Chander Shekhar Azad and Raj Guru. They shot-down John Saunders, a senior police officer. In 1929, Bhagat Singh and B.K. Dutt threw a bomb in the central legislature assembly and voluntarily offered themselves for-arrest. Bhagat Singh, SukhDev and Raj Guru were hanged to death on 23rd March 1931. Chander Shekhar Azad became a martyr in Feb. 1931 in a park at Allahabad. In 1933, many other revolutionaries were hanged.

Q.Discuss thet Poona Pact of 1932?


Ans. 
The separation of the Scheduled Castes from the Hindus was a bombshell for Mahatma Gandhi. To protest against the Communal Award, he began his fast unto death. The government did'not care to save his life or accept his demand. The condition of Mahatma Gandhi began to deteriorate. The Indian leaders could not remain indifferent to the problems created by the Award. Ultimately, after much deliberations, they reached an agreement which is, called the Poona Pact. According to it, seats were reserved for the scheduled castes but their election was to be through the general elecorate from a penal of names chosen by them in a primary election.

Q.Write a paragraph on the Gandhi-Irwin Pact?




Ans.
The government was now anxious to have Congress representatives at the next round table conference. In pursuance of this policy, the government made an attempt to arrive at a settlement with the Congress so that it would attend the next round table conference. Finally, in March 1931 A.D., Lord Irwin and Gandhiji reached an agreement which is known asDelhi Pact or Gandhi Irwin pact. The government agreed to release all the political prisoners except those convicted of violent crimes.

Q.Discuss the peoples response to the Civil Disobedience Movement?




Ans. Civil disobedience movement started by Gandhiji received much response from the people. On 6th April, 1930, thousands of men and women came out to offer civil disobedience in response to Gandhiji's call. In the Punjab, salt was made by violating the laws at Amritsar, Lahore and at many other places. Foreign goods and cloths were burnt at public places.

Q.Write a note on the Dandi March?

Ans.

Mahatma Gandhi started Civil Disobedience movement in 1930. Gandhiji along with his 79 trusted followers started from Sabarmati Ashram (Ahmedabad) to Dandi, a village on the coast of Gujarat. The object of the March was to break the Salt Laws. The Government had doubled the tax on salt and also prohibited the making of salt from sea water privately. On the morning of 6th April, Mahatma Gandhi broke the law by making salt from sea water at the sea coast. It was the beginning of the contrywide movement of Civil Disobedience.
